The program aims to highlight the plurality of Brazilian society in its cultural, regional, racial, and gender diversities, promoting an integrated understanding of the dimensions of development. It seeks to contribute to the training of highly qualified professionals and researchers, with theoretical and scientific rigor and, at the same time, a broad capacity for action and critical reflection within the State, public policies, and civil society, starting from their local areas of activity and residence. Students involved in the program’s activities are expected to strive to understand the trajectory of capitalist development in Brazil and Latin America, analyze the regional singularities in the formation of Brazilian capitalism, and be able to use, analyze, and evaluate the institutional conditions and instruments of government for the effective promotion of public policies committed to equality and the transformation of the living conditions of the Brazilian population.
